Leading Russian Service Provider Extends Relationship with Hughes
Germantown, Md., December 10, 2014—Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite solutions and services, today announced that it has been selected to provide a major network upgrade for one of Russia’s largest satellite service providers.
ROILCOM LLC has agreed to purchase a Hughes HX Gateway and 240 VSATs (very small aperture terminals) to modernize its system and extend its networking capabilities. This technology upgrade builds on ROILCOM’s relationship with Hughes which began in 2007, and brings to ROILCOM an array of advanced features, including mesh services operating over single satellite hops between remote sites.
“Hughes has been a reliable and trusted ROILCOM partner for over seven years, and we have relied on the HN System to provide effective and versatile solutions to our customers,” said ROILCOM CEO, Andrey Makarov. “The telecommunication services market is very competitive and operators need to stay ahead of the game. With this significant network upgrade, we will be able to offer our customers a wider range of services of the highest quality at very competitive prices.”
ROILCOM provides a wide range of communication services to Russia’s oil and gas industries, government and private institutions, from traditional telephony, Internet access and data transmission to virtual private networks and real-time video conferencing. Its services extend to some of the country’s most remote regions.
“This contract with such a high quality customer as Roilcom is a testament to the excellent partnership that’s been developed over the years,” said Konstantin Lanin, head of the Hughes Russia office. “Roilcom’s success is our success, and we look forward to helping them drive new revenue and profitability with our versatile HX platform from a whole spectrum of modern services to their customers.”
