Secure Defense Communications Solutions. Anytime. Anywhere. Anycomms.

Hughes engineers, integrates, and manages resilient networks with intelligence built-in, so networks are easier to operate and harder to take down.

We develop classified terminals and systems for specialized U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) applications. We future-proof networks, so they are never limited by yesterday’s technology.

SATCOM: Secure information accessibility in any environment

With exceptional SATCOM and commercial expertise, Hughes solves the challenges of complex multi-transport, multi-tiered networks with software-defined engineering and advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and cloud-based management, to enable network resilience, integration and optimization. In doing so, we deliver video between the blades, constant aero connectivity for manned and unmanned vehicles and future-proof networks for a battlespace defined by data.

Defense Communications Network Technologies & Solutions

Military Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) & mobility solutions
Whether connecting a single helicopter, a squad of UAVs or a fleet of aircraft, Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) must be reliable and resilient with low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP). Using Geostationary (GEO), Low Earth Orbit (LEO), and Middle Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite connectivity, Hughes innovates the Beyond-Line-of-Sight (BLoS) technologies and solutions the DoD needs for situational awareness and airborne ISR, border security, law enforcement, emergency medicine and disaster response. Consult with Hughes for your military ISR & mobility solutions needs.

Hughes Network Management Solutions
We engineer and deliver automated, real-time network management solutions that protect your defense communications network infrastructure from disruptions and optimize services in every theater worldwide. We offer secure, 24/7 network operations and support so you can focus on the mission.

Smart Network Edge
The Smart Network Edge (SNE) software is a key enabler for orchestrating state-of-the-art resilient communications utilizing multiple diverse transports including GEO, MEO, LEO and 5G systems. It supports continuous connectivity to meet mission requirements and, using a smart-rules engine, can automate the use of one or more modems, satellites, bands, services, and service providers at a terminal equipped with diverse resources. The cutting-edge software technology is flexible, interoperable with a variety of systems and legacy infrastructure, and can interface with the Hughes Network Management System to provide automated Enterprise Monitoring and Coordination (EMC) capabilities.

In-Theater Connectivity for Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR)
A custom satellite internet solution with options for multiple broadband speed tiers, shared data pools, and flexible billing schedules – ideal for operational or Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) needs anywhere.

Resilient Networking
Enhance interoperability between networks by leveraging standardized interfaces and a multi-modem adaptor to give satellite terminals the ability to roam across various satellite networks.

Private Wireless Solutions
We design and deploy secure, private 5G wireless deployments for DoD facilities, as well as portable and powerful 4G cell service on-demand at the tactical edge.

Hughes Satellite Terminals
Our industry-leading HM System for military applications uses a breakthrough enhanced scramble code multiple access (SCMA) waveform for efficient use of L-, Ku-, Ka-Mil Ka, and X-band bandwidth. We also offer an array of flyaway and manpack terminals, including C-com antennas and our own JUPITER™ System HTS Flyaway kit.

Hughes offers our defense solutions and services through federal contract vehicles, both as a prime contractor and as a subcontractor to our industry partners. Download the solution sheet for more information about resilient and secure solutions for the defense industry.
