Keynote speaker to focus on global expansion of broadband services.

Germantown, MD, September 8, 2014—The global growth in high-throughput satellite technology (HTS) and services will be the subject of the keynote address by Ramesh Ramaswamy, vice president of International sales and marketing at Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes) at this year’s VSAT 2014 conference.

Drawing on the market success of the Hughes JUPITER™ system, Mr. Ramaswamy will review how satellite services around the globe are taking off in the large consumer and small business markets unserved or underserved by broadband terrestrial technology. To be held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London, UK from 17-19 September, the satellite networking industry’s premier event will provide the opportunity for delegates to hear from more than 50 industry leading speakers and network with senior decision-makers in the industry.

Mr. Ramaswamy commented, “Across the globe, broadband satellite is delivering an ever-increasing range of applications such as distance learning in Ethiopia, rural education in India, Mexico and Russia, as well as Internet to the home in Latin America and lottery services across Europe. This demand for higher bandwidth and quality of service is being met through advances in high-throughput satellite technology.”

HTS Satellites can now provide more capacity at a lower cost and high quality, as evidenced by the EchoStar® XVII satellite powered by JUPITER high throughput technology. The Hughes JUPITER ground system is now available globally and is easily configurable for multi-band operation on either conventional or HTS satellites.
