Hughes will provide a high-availability, highly secure network to provide critical connectivity for hundreds of remote monitoring sites around the world
Germantown, MD, May 16, 2017—Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, today announced it has been awarded a multi-year contract to implement and manage a global IP-based communications network for a major multinational organization. Under the agreement, Hughes will be responsible for the implementation, support and management of all elements of the network providing critical connectivity for more than 300 geographically diverse and remote monitoring sites in a large number of countries around the world.
The fully managed, private IP-based network will primarily employ the industry-leading Hughes JUPITER™ System, including a mix of satellite and terrestrial MPLS links backed up by a combination of 3G/4G, IPVPN and BGAN technologies. As a fully redundant global service, it will provide highly resilient and secure connectivity from remote monitoring sites to the organization’s headquarters, including individual site redundancy across the network.
“For many years, Hughes has been leading the industry in providing global managed services that are flexible, reliable, and cost-effective,” said Ramesh Ramaswamy, senior vice president, International at Hughes. “The critical work carried out by this global organization required a network solution delivering exceptionally high availability and security, with the ability to connect a large number of geographically diverse sites regardless of location. Hughes is honored to have been chosen as the trusted managed service provider to support these important efforts.”
As part of the turnkey solution, Hughes is responsible for obtaining regulatory approvals required to install sites in various countries, managing logistics for staging and shipping equipment on a global scale, and continuously monitoring the network to ensure it meets strict service level agreements. This includes the resources to rapidly deploy technicians to restore outages on a time-critical basis in remote locations around the world. The Hughes dedicated program management team will also support possible expansion of features and traffic as needed.
This new contract adds to Hughes leadership in the global managed services market, including international customers such as the African Development Bank and the National Weather Service, among others.
