It takes trust to turn over the management of a vital asset to a partner. But that’s exactly what customers of HughesONTM Global Managed Services do every day. These enterprises, governments, and non-governmental organizations face a myriad of challenges when they go multi-national, not the least of which is the complex task of expanding their networks in the face of different infrastructures and regulatory and environmental barriers across borders.
These are the problems solved by HughesON—a one-stop, comprehensive managed network service provided by Hughes, a trusted partner. The service spans the full breadth of communications and IT technologies and related support needs of any type of organization across the globe. Hughes blends the reach of its own service companies in North America, Brazil, Europe, and India with strategic partnerships in the rest of the world to deliver broadband solutions to customers everywhere.
Hughes was recently contracted by African Development Bank (AfDB) to expand man- aged satellite services and provide MPLS cloud circuits and broadband connectivity to regional banks in 32 countries. AfDB has been a Hughes Managed Services customer since 2008, employing a primary communications network of broadband satellite terminals installed in 32 AfDB field offices throughout Africa. The expansion contract calls for Hughes to provide MPLS circuits at four AfDB sites, with backhaul (STM1) services to Tunisian headquarters from a teleport in Germany. Major applica- tions include SAP, VoIP, videoconferenc- ing, and high-speed Internet access.
AfDB has stringent requirements for its network, such as high availability and uniform SLA and QoS offerings. The bank also requires a single vendor to provide full turnkey man- aged services and ongoing system engineering.
Hughes has been a valued managed services provider to AfDB for many years,” said David Wu, Director at AfDB. “We count on the continued sup- port of Hughes and plan to integrate them into our portfolio of telecommunica- tions service providers we present to our clients.
Similarly, a Hughes High-Availability satellite network serves as backup to the terrestrial network of one of the world’s largest multi-national financial services companies. In case of terrestrial failure, the Hughes network automatically takes over without interruption at over 100 locations in Central and Latin America.
The financial services giant operates one of the world’s largest credit card and ATM networks, providing consumer credit, debit, prepaid, and commercial payment products and processing services, with a strong presence in many Latin America/Caribbean countries. Hughes has been providing managed satellite network services for over 10 years to the company’s Latin American/ Caribbean regional operations including network installation, management, and field maintenance, connecting their banks to the company’s regional headquarters.
This contract extension from one of the world’s most prestigious financial services companies is a testament to the high quality and reliability of our com- bined satellite and terrestrial networking solution,” said Kamran Givpoor, vice president of Global Services at Hughes.
Experience and trust—that’s what HughesON Global Managed Services are all about.
