HughesNet Gen 5: The Highest Speed and Largest Satellite Internet Service

• On March 16, 2017, just three months after the successful launch from Cape Canaveral of EchoStar XIX—the world’s highest capacity satellite—Hughes began delivery of its next generation broadband satellite service. HughesNet® Gen5 now brings residences and businesses the fastest satellite Internet service available coast-to-coast, the only truly nationwide service meeting US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated 25 Mbps downloads everywhere. And it comes with a host of new features, including built-in Wi-Fi, Video Data Saver capabilities, and a Bonus Zone of free data for off-peak hours.
• EchoStar XIX joins EchoStar XVII, and the Ka-band payload on Eutelsat’s 65W satellite (launched in 2016) to provide comprehensive Internet access across the Americas, making it the world’s largest and fastest broadband satellite network. When combined with the new 63W satellite to be launched in 2018, it will result in more than 400 Gbps of total satellite capacity.

Technologies and Solutions for Business and Government

• The market-leading Hughes JUPITER™ System—the choice of leading high-throughput satellite (HTS) operators worldwide—powers services over the new satellites, employing advanced System-on-a-Chip (SoC) technology and the new DVB-S2X standard, resulting in the highest bandwidth efficiency and performance available.
• Recently added to the JUPITER terminal lineup is the HT2500, which supports LTE acceleration to address the rapidly growing cellular backhaul market and deliver ever higher performance (up to 200/30 Mbps, download/upload).
• For business and government, Hughes HTS was recently added to the comprehensive HughesON™ line of managed services, delivering high speed and best-in-class network security options. Incorporating the ActiveTechnologies™ performance optimization suite, Hughes HTS results in greater throughput, end-to-end QoS, and automated traffic shaping, all backed by end-to-end service management.
• Hughes Managed SD-WAN solutions for large distributed organizations provide significant benefits over traditional private networks, including cloud readiness, high performance, improved network and application availability/flexibility/security, and cost savings. Delivered as an end-to-end turnkey solution, Hughes Managed SD-WAN can be implemented on an existing network infrastructure quickly and easily, including cable, fiber, cellular, and high-throughput satellite transports, ensuring that performance at every branch across a network is reliable and consistent.  

Aero Services                                                                                                       

• The newly-unveiled JUPITER™ Aero System employs a dual Ku-band/Ka-band antenna that delivers high performance and up to 400 Mbps to each aircraft. Announced March 7, 2017, it offers the industry’s fastest in-flight Internet connectivity seamlessly across both Ku-band and Ka-band satellites globally, including operation across the entire EchoStar XIX footprint in the US, Canada, and parts of Latin America. The JUPITER Aero System will ship in the second half of 2017.
