Hughes selected for 15th year as one of best places to work

Germantown, Md., July 15, 2014―Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite solutions and a leading provider of managed network services, has again been honored by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) as one of the Greater Washington, D.C. area’s best places to work, receiving the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval, as well as the Health & Wellness Seal of Approval. In addition, Hughes was one of 27 organizations recognized with the EcoLeadership Award for their commitment to environmental sustainability, and one of 18 for being a leading practitioner in diversity and inclusion. These awards were presented to the 66 winning organizations at the AWE Annual Awards Luncheon held on May 20, 2014 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.

The Alliance has recognized the best places to work for the past fifteen years, honoring organizations that promote professional fulfillment and personal wellness—at work, at home, and in the community, as well as their commitment to environmental sustainability and workplace diversity.

“Hughes is honored to be recognized again as one of the region’s best places to work,” said Pradman Kaul, president of Hughes. “Our employees are our most important asset, and we are committed to providing a positive and inclusive work environment with a range of wellness resources to ensure they achieve a healthy work-life balance.”

Michelle Pearre, vice president of Human Resources added, “Hughes is proud to be an AWE winner and to be one of only 14 companies to receive all four awards. We offer a variety of health and wellness programs which we believe helps our diverse workforce be more productive and creative; and recognition of our commitment to environmental sustainability reflects many new ‘green’ initiatives undertaken across the company.”

The 66 winning organizations represent more than one million employees from US organizations of all sizes and all sectors―private, public, and nonprofit.

All award recipients undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of business professionals and master’s and Ph.D. level students in the field of business, industrial and organizational psychology, human resources, environmental science, and public health.
