Exciting New Changes at HUGHES
Pradman Kaul has had a lot to talk about lately. In March, the Hughes chairman and CEO announced that following several corporate transactions, the company has achieved its goal of becoming publicly traded. Hughes Network Systems, LLC is now 100% owned by Hughes Communications, Inc. (HCI), the holding entity, and together in the marketplace the name is simply Hughes. The management team remains intact and is the same for both entities. Presently trading as HGCM:OTCBB on the OTC Bulletin Board, the company will likely be listed on NASDAQ later this summer. Because the company has always been a technology and market leader, Kaul expects the Hughes brand and its strong association with innovation in communications to serve Hughes well throughout the world.
Kaul also announced the launch of HughesNetTM, the company’s new service brand replacing DIRECWAY®, for all market sectors: enterprise, government, small business and consumer. The full range of systems, NOCs, routers and terminals remain branded as Hughes.
Why the Change?
Since inventing the VSAT over 20 years ago, Hughes has always been the undisputed leader in VSAT products and services around the world. But its capabilities and services now far exceed the “broadband by satellite” association with the DIRECWAY brand. HughesNet is greater than broadband connectivity and transport, and encompasses all solutions and services from Hughes, including managed network services for enterprises and governments, and value-added ISP services for consumers and small businesses.
“This is an exciting time for our company, and I would like to thank all our customers, resellers, partners, and employees for their loyalty and confidence in our products and services,” said Kaul. “As the new Hughes and HughesNet, we look forward to working with you to expand the universe of possibilities in broadband towards an even brighter future for us all.” |
