How HughesNet is Bringing Broadband to Everyone.

Technology is changing quickly—and the world along with it. Businesses and governments need more than just basic transport services. Small businesses require broadband services to conduct operations and stay competitive. Consumers are looking to broadband for business and personal connections. What they all share is the need for broadband solutions that add value.

Building on Hughes’ heritage of innovation and leadership in the satellite broadband business, I am delighted to tell you about HughesNet™, our complete portfolio of broadband services. HughesNet is the replacement brand for DIRECWAY®, which, over time, had come to mean “broadband by satellite.” But today Hughes is about much more—it’s about offering services that add significant value to our customers. HughesNet means “Broadband Unbound,” offering a menu of broadband choices to meet different customer needs. Let me summarize.

Enterprises and Government

Managed Network Services

The beauty of a managed service from Hughes is that it allows an organization to focus on running its core operations, knowing that network management is in the hands of a trusted business partner. Today, Hughes provides services to more than 200,000 sites, which according to the Yankee Group, exceeds that of any other networking company in North America. In this category we are introducing three offerings.

The High Availability Network, the flagship of HughesNet managed services, blends satellite broadband and DSL in a co-primary mode at the same location. Set with default transport paths, all applications are automatically re-routed in the event of failure to the surviving platform, ensuring operations continuity.

The Optimized Network optimizes the whole network based on price or performance, meeting business requirements at the lowest possible cost.

The third managed offering is Access Continuity, a service that deploys a satellite broadband overlay to a terrestrial network.

All of these solutions yield highly robust networks capable of supporting an organization’s present and future applications, at a price that may be significantly lower than existing terrestrial broadband networks.

Digital Media ServicesThe HughesNet suite of digital media services includes Managed Digital Signage, which provides retailers, banks, and restaurants an in-store network that allows them to deliver compelling messages to inform and entertain customers, helping to build brands, generate incremental sales, and enhance the whole customer experience. HughesNet Business IPTV stores and distributes digital content, such as training, to branch offices to play on demand. And HughesNet Content Delivery distributes electronic files to target recipients anywhere within the network, with a delivery guarantee.

Continuity of Operations (COOP) takes center stage for government at all levels and HughesNet provides robust, reliable portable communications to deal with incidents, large or small. In addition, all the services and applications available to the enterprise are also available to government customers.

Consumers and Small Businesses

In addition to providing broadband by satellite to consumers and small businesses in areas that are not reached today by either cable or DSL, HughesNet is adding a full suite of ISP services such as enhanced email, domain names, and a customizable start page.

In conclusion, the new HughesNet is bringing a range of broadband services to everyone—solutions that add value to enterprises, governments, small businesses, and consumers and help them focus on what they do best. Now that’s Broadband Unbound.
