Telecom Operator to use 26 GHz Point-to-Multipoint System across Bulgaria
Germantown, Md., USA, November 19, 2007— Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the world's leading provider of broadband satellite solutions and a major supplier of broadband wireless systems, today announced that it has signed a contract with Max Telecom of Bulgaria to provide the AIReach® AB9400 point-to-multipoint broadband wireless system.
Krassimir Stoitcheff, CEO of Max Telecom commented, “With Hughes' advanced and flexible platform, we can offer our customers a full range of the latest high-capacity, high-quality, reliable IP services. The ability of the AB9400 to create a virtual capacity that is two to three times greater than the physical capacity enables us to both serve our customers and backhaul our own internal WiMAX traffic.”
“We are excited about supplying our AB9400 LMDS solution to help fuel Max Telecom's rapid growth throughout Bulgaria ,” said Tom Hsu, senior vice president and general manager, Terrestrial Microwave Division (TMD) at Hughes. “It's an ideal solution for providing a wide range of broadband applications including high-speed Internet access, WiMAX base station backhaul and leased line connectivity.”
“Operating in its licensed 26 GHz spectrum, the AB9400 PMP system will be used in both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. The AB9400 offers full ATM and IP QoS (quality of service) capability, together with greater IP throughput than other broadband wireless alternatives,” added Vinay Patel, senior marketing director, TMD, Hughes.
