CEO Kaul to Discuss Trends Shaping the Industry and Challenges that Lie Ahead

Germantown, Md., October 13, 2008 — Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the world's leading provider of broadband satellite networks and services, today announced that three Hughes executives will be participating on panels discussing such issues as satellite's role in the economy to the function satellite technology serves in an increasingly mobile society during SATCON 2008, October 15-16 in New York. Hughes Chairman and CEO Pradman Kaul also will discuss trends shaping the industry during the “Satellite Keynote Panel: The Industry Leaders Speak” on October 15.

In an increasingly competitive communications marketplace, an uncertain economy, and a changing political and regulatory environment, satellite operators and service providers must develop new services and applications, provide added value to their customers, and invest in future technologies. Kaul and several other leaders of the satellite industry will discuss key trends shaping the industry, and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Hughes executives Mike Cook, senior vice president of North America, and Dr. Arunas Slekys, vice president of corporate marketing, will also be speaking during the show.
