Hughes to Address Army Commercial Satellite Users Workshop and Launch New Tactical Solution at LandWarNet 2009

Company Showcasing Integrated Beyond-Line-of-Sight Communications Solution

Germantown, Maryland, August 12, 2009 — Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite network solutions and services, announced today that it will participate in the Satellite Industry Association sponsored Army Commercial SATCOM Users Workshop, an adjunct event to LandWarNet 2009.

Dan Losada, senior director of the Defense & Intelligence Systems Division at Hughes, will participate in a panel discussion on “Filling the Gap for Transitional Communications and Coalition Operations,” focusing on using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to bridge the U.S. Army's current communications structures and requirements in a transitional environment. Mr. Losada will discuss on-the-move applications and a new COTS technology jointly developed by Hughes and Ultra Electronics Tactical Communications Systems (TCS) that offers integrated beyond-line-of-sight capabilities as part of a High Capacity Line-of-Sight (HCLOS) communications solution for use in both mountainous and urban areas.

Hughes will showcase its technologies and solutions for defense and intelligence applications at LandWarNet, Booth #1237. The Hughes SATCOM-on-the-move vehicle will be available for demonstrations, to include the integrated beyond-line-of-sight solution from Ultra TCS and Hughes. In addition, the new Hughes HX 280 broadband satellite router with star and mesh capabilities, as well as built-in mobility and security features, will be featured.
