Datagroup Selects AIReach Broadband LMDS System
from Hughes

Ukrainian telecommunications operator joins growing list of 26 GHz LMDS customers

Germantown, Md., USA, May 15, 2007 Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the world's leading provider of broadband satellite solutions and a major supplier of broadband wireless systems, today announced that it has signed a contract with Datagroup, a major telecommunications service provider in Ukraine, to implement its AIReach AB9400 point-to-multipoint broadband wireless system.

Datagroup will operate the AB9400 LMDS system in its licensed 26 GHz spectrum and will utilize it in both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. The AB9400 offers full QoS and greater IP throughput than other 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz broadband wireless alternatives, enabling Datagroup to address the growing market for higher capacity services throughout all market sectors in Ukraine.

Alexander Danchenko, director general of Datagroup commented, The Hughes AB9400 is a flexible system platform from which we can backhaul our own internal traffic, as well as offer our customers the latest high-capacity IP services. It utilizes a combination of dynamic bandwidth allocation and adaptive modulation to create a virtual capacity that is two or three times greater than the physical capacity.

We are proud to add Datagroup to our growing list of satisfied customers for the Hughes AB9400 LMDS solution, one of Ukraine's and the region's premier telecom operators. It is ideal for providing a wide range of broadband applications including mobile backhaul, broadband wireless access, point-to-point links, and leased line access, said Thomas Hsu, senior vice president and general manager, Terrestrial Microwave Division at Hughes.

Datagroup is Hughes' leading authorized broadband satellite service provider in Ukraine and throughout the CIS region, operating two NOCs and with over 5,000 contracted VSAT sites from Hughes. Implementing our AB9400 LMDS solution now positions them to deliver high quality broadband services cost-effectively in all market sectors- urban, suburban and rural, said Konstantin Lanin, Russia/CIS region director of sales for Hughes.
